a subscription based service. Instead of buying a
license for each of your workstations, you simply pay a
small fee, based on the number of users using the system
in any given month.
Conventionally you would buy and install an application
locally on your desktop machine. In the Hosted Microsoft
Office 2010 model, the application resides on Penta's
server and you access it via Remote Desktop over the
Internet.
In the traditional model, users have to manage
applications, hardware, licenses, backups and possibly
technical staff. In the Hosted Microsoft Office model
Penta fulfils these services.
